Who We Are

We are Bible believing Christians upon whom God has laid a burden for the lost, and particularly those lost in counterfeit Christianity. For a more complete picture of what that means, please see our Statement of Faith and our Mission Statement. Besides creating and overseeing this web site, we are also full time missionaries and missionary trainers in the state of Utah. Our year round training program offers Christians short term mission opportunities of from two weeks up to two months.

Why Think About Eternity?

First, because it matters. It matters more than anything else. We sometimes hear people say that they want a practical religion. Typically, what they mean is that they want something down to earth, applicable to their daily life, something to guide or help them to be better persons, have better family life, etc. However, this life is but a drop in an infinite ocean, compared to eternity. To be truly practical a religion must be able to affect and guarantee one's destiny in eternity. If it can only dangle celestial rewards like a carrot on a stick, but cannot guarantee delivery of the goods, then ultimately it is not practical at all.

Second, because if one does not rightly regard eternity, one will never understand the deeper issues of this life. Without a proper understanding of, and view to, eternity, all the self-help manuals, and all the practical religions in the conventional sense, will not only fail in eternity, they will not be truly satisfying in, nor deliver on their promises for, even this life.

A Ministry of Evangelism and Christian Discernment

Think About Eternity, Inc. is an independent Christian evangelism, research, and apologetics ministry focused on evangelizing people caught in counterfeit Christianity, the New Age, and a number of world religions. We also serve the Christian and secular community as a resource for education, counselling, and non-coercive intervention.

Think About Eternity, Inc.'s founder, Timothy Oliver, began counter-cult evangelistic ministry in 1983. He has worked with Watchman Fellowship since 1988. For a number of years, Mr. Oliver felt the need to address some areas of ministry not included under Watchman Fellowship's purview. Think About Eternity, which he founded in 2004, attempts to address those issues.

It is hoped that materials on this website will stimulate people of all faiths to examine their own faiths in light of eternity. Particularly, it is hoped that followers of Mormonism, the Watchtower, the Seventh-day Adventist and Roman Catholic churches, the New Age Movement, three major world religions, and those who hold to a pluralistic, relativistic, postmodern worldview would be moved to re-examine their own beliefs in the light of biblical truth and historical facts.

Mormonism For decades Mormonism has been one of the fastest growing religious groups in America. Recently, however, its growth rate has been slowing. More and more Christians are becoming better educated about Mormonism, and their resistance to it has increased. Overseas growth is still doing well, with more than half the membership living outside the USA. Rapid growth and popularity in the midst of an increasingly wicked age, however, is not a good sign. And Mormonism still has a different gospel, a different God and Jesus, and a different spirit than Bible based Christianity.

The Watchtower (Jehovah's Witnesses) The Watchtower has taken longer than Mormonism to learn that more flies are caught with honey than with vinegar. Their entry requirements are also much more stringent than Mormonism's. The result is that the number of their official members is less than that for Mormonism. But given the high attrition and inactivity rates in Mormonism, and the high number of hours of door-to-door "publishing" and book studies required to maintain official Watchtower membership, it is certain that the number of people under Watchtower influence worldwide is three to four times the number of Mormons.

Seventh-day Adventism Seventh-day Adventism has probably succeeded better than any other counterfeit Christianity group at selling itself to evangelical Christians as one of their own. It has been said that they have the whitest fleece of any of the wolves out there. One reason for this is that there actually are more true Christians in this group than in other counterfeit Christian groups. Accurate articulations of the true gospel can be found in some SDA literature. Their distinctive doctrines, however, cannot be reconciled to that gospel, and indeed constitute false gospels themselves.

Roman Catholicism The oldest continuing institution in the world able to trace its historical roots back to early Christianity, the Roman Catholic Church nevertheless ceased long ago to be a true Christian Church. At the Council of Trent it anathematized the gospel and all those who believe or teach it. While Vatican II appeared to liberalize this church, it nonetheless specifically reaffirmed the Canons of the Council of Trent, and remains today as opposed as ever to the true biblical gospel of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in and because of Christ alone, and according to the Bible alone.

The New Age Movement Many believers in New Age philosophy claim to be Christian, many do not. And now, due to crass commerciality associated with the term New Age, many hold disdain for it, and, despite their beliefs, prefer not to be identified as such. Based primarily in Hindu philosophy and other Eastern mystical thought, the New Age Movement is nonetheless eclectic and considerably westernized as a whole. Indeed some doctrines held by many New Age believers, like Reincarnation, are repulsive in their original settings.

Islam Islam is the world's fastest growing religion, and particularly among criminals in prison. Many Muslims are peace loving, but they are out of step with its founder and sacred scriptures, the Qur'an, and the Hadith. From the beginning Islam was spread by the sword. Its founder and the Qur'an openly advocate violence against non-muslims. Those who will not convert must be suppressed and made to submit to a tax and other strictures. Those who will neither convert nor submit must be killed.
